Parts

Postby Walker 2008 » Sun May 20, 2012 11:44 pm

Hello all, It's been a while since I have been on here. 4 years I believe and I think I only had 4 posts. I have been battling lukhemia since then and was out of action. The doctors tell me that the worst is behind me and I have been in remission for 1 year now. I have even gotten back to work part time. I still have another year of follw ups and check ups but if everything goes well by this time next year I will be declared cancer free! Anyway to the subject of my topic. I'm going to be receiving my 2nd Autoart Interceptor in a couple of days. My 1st one I did all the weathering to it to make look like the car in MM2. This one I want to do up like the MM1 version but Monsters in Motion no longer has the conversion kit available. Does anyone know where else I might find a conversion kit? I have a stock biante 1/18 Falcon GT in sandstone beige and walnut but I'm not about to use it as their are only 1008 of those in existence. So if anyone has an idea of where I can get the parts from that would be great. This is my first project since I became ill and I'm really excited to get back to doing some modeling.

I believe those are out of production, you will probably have to watch ebay for a kit to turn up.

I wouldnt worry about ruining a biante 1/18 falcon coupe. that shell has been churned out in countless variations.

Have at it.

Well the I dea was to have kind of an evolutionary theme. I have the stock falcon coupe then the MM1 car and then the beaten up and weathered MM2 car. Besides I like the stock coupe and considering that you can't get biante falcon coupes here in the states plus they are a little pricey. Once I found out what car the pursuit specail was based on I did some research and looked at pictures of them online and I must say they are a stunning looking ride in stock trim. I did manage to mock up a lower nose piece this afternoon. It's not 100% film correct but it looks pretty good for a model. I found a couple of other coupes on ebay one has a messed up passenger door but I can use the rear window and trunk lid along with the interior. I have yet to source a set of correct rear wheels and I will still have to fab up the deck lid spoiler but it's been a fun and challenging project.

Trunk lid, boot lid, all depends on which side of the pond you live. After three attempts and a whole tube of Fasteel I finally have a spoiler that looks pretty good. Funny thing is it's been the hardest thing to make. I was having trouble matching the very sublte curve in the middle of the lid itself. I also had to reshape the driver's side spoiler end as it is taller and more squared than the passenger side. I still have some finish sanding to do to the spoiler to smooth it out some more but it is coming along pretty nice. I took toecutter's advice and sacrificed my other biante falcon for the boot lid and interior. I was going to use the rear window from it as well but unfortunately it broke in half as I was trying to remove it. So I had to make one of those out of some clear stock I had lying around. I also will have to glue the lid down instead of being able to have it open. The hinges for the biante model will not work on the interceptor. I will try to get some pics of it up soon and see what you all think. It's been a challenge but also a lot of fun seeing it take shape.
