About this piece of news from another thread:

Which is why, after resisting the impulse for years, and watching imitators clean up, Miller is now finally going to make Mad Max, the game. Backed by Warner Bros, the game version of Fury Road was to be made in Sweden, until Miller saw what Team Bondi could do. He has also acquired the rights to Team Bondi founder Brendan McNamara’s next game, Whore Of The Orient.

“With the government’s support we can immediately go forward with two games,” says Mitchell. “Warner Bros is standing by, willing to do Fury Road; the incentive would bring it back here in a New York minute.

This is interesting news since we had none in almost a year! I just hope Miller and Mitchell know what they're doing... It seems a bit chaotic to move a game from Stockholm to Sydney in the middle of production (...)

I understand this much better now. Barlog's departure is disconcerting indeed and very very disappointing...

Barlog has been working on the game at least since March 2008, a full 4 years. What a waste of time and talent it would be if they've decided to pull the plug on it.

With his latest tweet, Barlog followed up with this picture and caption.

It's a scene from the movie 'Glengarry Glen Ross', the clip of which is linked below.

If this tweet is at all related to his departure from the game, then it sounds like he might've been canned.

God of War Director Cory Barlog Joins Crystal Dynamics

Posted March 1, 2012 by James Brightman

God of War director Cory Barlog is hoping to breathe some new life into Lara Croft, as Square Enix studio Crystal Dynamics has just revealed to IndustryGamers that the industry veteran has joined the development team.

-------

After leaving Sony, Barlog worked on a variety of projects as a consultant, designer, and writer, including a proposed Mad Max game.

Despite Barlog's departure, the Mad Max game still appears to be on.

Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios, which was thought to be working with Cory Barlog on a Mad Max game, has told Eurogamer that its unannounced projects are coming along well.

This morning's announcement of Barlog's arrival at Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics sparked questions over the future of the Mad Max game.

"I didn't know that he'd joined CD until I read it in the press," Avalanche founder Christofer Sundberg told Eurogamer.

"He's an awesome Game Director and I'm happy that he found a good team and project to direct.

"I can't comment on our project, but all I can say is that the projects we've been working on for the last two years and the one we recently started up in NY are sailing along like never before."

Looks like a deal is in place for KMM / Team Bondi to produce and Warner Bros to publish McNamara's 'Whore of the Orient' for next generation consoles. I wonder what this means for the Mad Max game. Producer Doug Mitchell had previously said that WB was ready to move the game from Sweden to Sydney if financial incentives were in place. With the exception of Barlog's departure, we haven't heard anything since.

If Avalanche Studios is still working on the Mad Max game, then this is probably it.

Unnanounced Open-World Action Game (Publisher TBD)

January 2010 to Present
Team Members: Christofer Sundberg

Avalanche Studios first licensed game, developed based on a well-known movie license. The game however, stands on its own and is scheduled for release in April 2014. The game is developed for current and next-generation console platforms and PC.

The January 2010 start date sounds about right, and an April 2014 release date probably means the movie is being released around that time.
