Red XA "Wipeout" Coupe Replica

Postby MFP1 » Mon May 13, 2002 9:32 pm

Hey everyone, my mad max dream is coming true!!!!

I just purchaced a 1973 XA from MADMAXCARS.COM (the white one on the sold page for those of you who want to see where I am starting), and I am debating what I really want to do with it. It seems to me that way too many people are doing the "Black Interceptor", even though that is why I got the car to begin with. I am seriously considering making my XA into a replica of the red "Wipeout" XA coupe. The problem is, I can not find any real information about the movie car, except what I can learn from watching the vid on "frame by frame". If anyone wants to give there input either on whether the world needs a red XA replica or another "Black on Black" more, or if anyone has any idea about the modifactions, or parts used on the red XA,please let me know..... A few good close up pics would be nice, but is there any?

Red XA "Wipeout" Coupe Replica

From what I can remember thus far,

Dual tires on rear axle, Boilerplate metal bolted onto rear, (Fake) pipes coming out of bonnet. Huge zoomie exhaust pipes running up sides of car, painted over front grille and lights.

Other than those details, I doubt theres much more to gain from watching the movie, I encourage you to invent the way you want it too look. As so many others have done!

cheers, dave

Dave,

Thanks for the info. It seems that I have done ok in observing the film details, but you have pointed out some new details, and the most important thing.....

Make it the way I want it. I think I may put a GT bonnet and fenders on to make it even cooler,

and may use flares instead of the cut away fenders, and may not paint the grill.... Its all up to speculation right now.

who knows.

I know there is a large bat with fangs open painted on the hood and front fenders. Awesome car, always wanted to build one myself. You should DO IT!!!!!! It will be very unique, and you will have the first and only one!! Not sure about the legality of the side pipes though...

Thanks Pursuit special, do you put other Max replicas on that webpage, or it it exclusivly interceptors?I am certian that those zoomies are totally not legal, even in the most liberal US states. I have heard that they are fake anyway, but how could I rell for sure. I dont see any exaust coming out of them. I love that bat paintjob!!

I'll put other mad max replicas up if people make them, but so far it has only been what is up on the page. I'd like to see a nightrider replica, or a kwaka replica.

Red XA "Wipeout" Coupe Replica

Jon,

I'll foward a pic and information once there is some progress to show. I think this will end up being one of the coolest MM2 replicas. I think it would be awesome if someday there was the whole fleet of vehicles from humungus's gang done up in replica. I have an old f100 pickup at my disposal, I suppose if I came up with a cheap tow rig and a bot windshield....... how much do you suppose it would cost to get the parts to convert it to right hand drive.....

Converting the trunk to RHD would be too much trouble for what you would get out of it. I don't think anyone cares, and wouldn't you prefer to drive on the right (left hand) side anyways? Not sure how legal the dart gun mounted on the back is either, but the truck is pretty cool with that chopped windshield and the snakes on the sides anyhow.

So it looks like it will be the red XA after all, and I think I have found a cheap F100 pickup toto make the "cobra" truck with..... Is that a real dartgun anyway? Or is it a movie fake.

Not sure about the dart gun being real, but I did move your white car over on my page to a new section called "Other MM2 Replicas" with the other being other than the black interceptor.
