Ford Torino King Cobra

Postby flightsuit » Tue Mar 16, 2010 5:59 pm

Who here is familiar with this car? Given the strong resemblance between the US Torino and the Falcon, I figured those of you who haven't heard of the King Cobra might get a kick out of seeing what it looks like.

Note that Mercury was going to have their own version, the Cyclone Spoiler II.

Having owned and still owning many 70/71 Torino's and Torino Cobra's,I am very familiar with both of these cars and even got to see them in person at the Ford 100th that us US falcon owners went to.What a show 8,995 show cars. All Ford all cool.Since I have now sold my Max car and am going to build another one out of my orange XB GS coupe,I am going to have an entire steel XB nose sitting around.I have been toying with the idea of shortening one of my spare Torinos' noses and putting the XB bits on it.It would be a MAJOR job since the Torino fenders are longer and the core support is further forward then the XB.Also the leading door opening will have to be modified as well as the side body lines.I DID hang a Torino fender on my XB while repairing the fender, just to see what it would look like.If I can figure out how to post the picture,I will.Cheers,Bill

What an interesting experiment! It's surprising what a close match that Torino fender almost is. I get the feeling somebody with enough metal-working skills might be able to graft the entire front clip from a Torino onto a Falcon.

I wouldn't want to put a Torino nose on a Falcon, but I would like to put my spare Falcon nose onto a Torino and then my old Max car's first nosecone for a REAL american interceptor.Cheers,Bill
