Okay, but you do know that you also have the option to not read so called rants.
And that comment is something you could use in a face to face person to person conversation, but not really in an online forum.

Personally I hope they stay away from a game, and just deliver an awesome movie! After all...mad max or not I don't believe anything could top Fallout 3 and/or Borderlands. The holy grail of gaming has already been attained.

On the topic Bethesda they did a brilliant job of making the Terminator SkyNET game back in 1996. Probably the best movie based game I've ever played.

Yes I remember that game! Many an hour was spent trying to infiltrate skynet! For it's time that game was way ahead of the competition, and was a game that was done right. As long as any impending Mad Max game is non-linear and features a (huge) free roaming open world then it would be worth it's salt. Anything less than this would be on par with say for example the Pirates Of The Carribbean games....just a digitised version of the movie act for act with nothing in between, or no scope for exploration or further story enhancement.

Thanks for the memories! I had all but forgotten that Terminator Skynet game! I wonder if it's considered Abandonware yet? I'll check on http://www.abandonia.com and xtcabandonware.com

Nah...Dammit there's just T2 the arcade game up for grabs. Did you know that the original Fallout is abandonware and a free download?

It's worth checking out the treasure trove over at www.xtcabandonware.com there are so many nostalgic games there, that you can have for nothing! Ahhh the memories...Day Of The Tentacle, Sam and Max Hit The Road......FULL THROTTLE! Now there's a great wee game (it's only a demo) I still have the original version boxed, mint it's the limited edition with mini strategy guide. I loved that game! It was all over too fast though.

I think the Tim Schafer games are the best ever! Him and Peter Chan's artwork is legendary....from Monkey Island, DOTT, Sam & Max, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango. Amazing stuff. Sorry to go off topic a bit, but nostalgia....especially fond nostalgia is a very powerful drug indeed!

Actually..now I am holding the Full Throttle box and looking at all the artwork, I wonder how much inspiration for this came from Mad Max too? The main character Ben wears a "classic" motorcycle jacket, that looks more like the MFP style with huge lapels. And his wheels are like the bike equivalent of the Interceptor. There's also part of the game where you are riding and various "wasteland" bikers approach you and pummelling you with whatever they have, from chains to chainsaws...your job is to de-bike them using any means available....all in a very Arizona cum Broken Hill style wasteland setting! Pretty neat stuff.

I must load this gem up and play it again!

I also played that game several times. I just love it. It also got great music in it. (The gone Jackals. Album: Bone to pick).
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

I agree! It has a Killer soundtrack! I wish they still made games in this style....all the zany Peter Chan artwork and goofy concepts by Tim Schafer.

Tim Schafer is (was) the Tim Burton of Video Games!
When I look at games like these I feel a bit sad.......sad in the sense that public perception and expectation of games now have to be as realistic as real life in terms of graphics, sound, and atmosphere. There used to be a time when games were considered an escape from all those things....to enter a world that was as far removed from reality as possible. I miss that experience. There are now very few new games that I will ever play, as quite often I will buy the latest whiz bang game..pop it into PC X-Box etc... and be uninspired and bored within minutes! I end up with drawers full of games I will never play again. So I have stopped buying them.
Wolfenstein 3D remember that? Or Spear Of Destiny? Some of those games held me captive for weeks! Remember Another World? I was an addict for ages! Todays games just don't give me that same experience.
Bring back Super VGA and the 386/486 series of computers....those things were the pioneers of gaming, when games had obvious sprite graphics, and not photo realistic reality *yawn* it's just not my bag (unless it's borderlands which is cell shaded, or Fallout 3).

Full throttle did Rock!
I still quote Ben when I pull out of the driveway in the interceptor.
I slip on my $3 trinket shop mirror shades and stare out of the windscreen, right before uttering in a very poor inpersonation.

"When I'm on the road.........I own it"
Kick her in the guts Barry !

Mad Max game + Bethesda = Win!

On Full Throttle, it is one of my all time favorite games. I remember it well, I got the game when I broke my right wrist, and was using the left hand to mouse to go trough most of it. Epic. The soundtrack is killer. If they would remake it with new HD drawings I would buy it again!

Seriously....if you own an x-box360 you MUST get Brutal Legend! That too is a Tim Schafer game (he made Full Throttle among others) This game REEKS of Full Throttle in every way...The main character Eddie Riggs hilariously voiced by Jack Black reminds me totally of Ben from Full Throttle. The "Deuce" Eddies hot rod is awesome! And it has a blower and some serious weaponry! This was easily one of the best and funniest games I have played probably since Full Throttle, and the fact there are cameo's from some of Metal's godfather's (Lemmy, Rob Halford, Ozzy Osbourne) and the goddess Lita Ford among a whole swagger of others make this game legendary. Great fun...great game, and a soundtrack that is will simply melt your face!
Not many Mad Max references, but any Mad Max fan will definately enjoy it. If you loved Full Throttle, you will simply LOVE this game!
