Is Fury Road a "B" Movie??

Postby MFP_1138 » Mon Sep 07, 2015 5:50 am

I hardly think so, but this article sure seems to:

http://my.xfinity.com/articles/entertainment/20150905/US--Summer.Box.Office/

Excerpt:
"More important, perhaps, is that the movie business is generally quite healthy — robust, even. Despite clamors over the effect of digital media and the competition of television, films are finding success in a variety of ways. The summer proved that many of the characteristics that have long driven hits — a reputation for quality (Pixar's "Inside Out"), the allure of top-flight stunts ("Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation"), a sense of cultural timeliness ("Straight Outta Compton"), blinding B-movie thrills ("Mad Max: Fury Road") — still work just fine."
"He's in a coma, man. He loves it."

"B-movie"
I don't think that word means what he thinks it means.

Kung Fury - that's blinding B-movie action.
At last the Vermin had inherited the Earth

B movies were low budget, sometimes tacky, poorly made, like spaghetti westerns.

Mad Max 1 was a "B" grade movie (anything coming out of Australia at the time was B grade given no one knew we actually had a film industry!)
We are 100% snafu....

Just show them "Not Quite Hollywood" and they'll know
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

Correct!

We had a thriving "backyard" film industry (Mad Max being the prime example).
