was Hugh always going to be Immortan Joe?

Probably an easy one to answer. As we've all seen the concept art of Immortan Joe went through quite a few different looks before settling on what we saw in the finished movie. I could never find confirmation from Miller though as to whether he always had Hugh in mind for the role or whether it was a late in the day decision.

Yes, he received a call from the director who wanted him in the role.

Cool thanks. I just wonder if it was ALWAYS going to be him, i mean when the project first started in the late 90's early 00's, when Mel was perhaps still involved. The article says a few years ago he received the call, but the article is dated May this year so it could've meant as they were going into pre-production in 2011 or whenever.
