Weathering AutoArts 1/43 Interceptor and Landau

Hey!
So I bought the 1/43 Interceptor/Landau set by AutoArts last week. I hadn't seen much talk about this scale on here so thought I'd post my progress on weathering them. I didn't buy the pre-weathered ones because they were not only more expensive, but looked to be simply airbrushed with a coat of brown. So going from the very glossy, naked cars to fully weathered, here's what I'm doing. From PhilC I got the idea of using Tamiya weathering sets. I got the master set B which has "snow" "rust" and "soot" colors. I used "snow" to put a base covering of dust on the vehicles. Then used a basic Testors paint for the caked mud. Testers seems to have a bit of sheen no matter how flat it is supposed to be, so after painting with it I went back over it with the Tamiya rust, which dulled the paint out pretty nicely. I still have some finishing touches I'm playing, such as a top coat of dust to mellow out the strong mud color some, but here we are so far!

Very nice. I have dirty version of that set and it's bit so and so, I might do some touch ups one day...

Thanks Hetzer! Good luck redoing and improving the weathering!
Here's a few more shots after adding more dust colors and some scratches along the side. I still need to do the props: the spare tire, dog food and gas cans

Thems do look much better with some dirt on em, the clean look that they were just don't look right.
