Caves in the rocks/ mountains?

Postby levcore » Mon Aug 03, 2015 5:20 am

Hello All, I'm probably wrong on this but in rewatching Fury Road yesterday i noticed what at least looked like caves/ dwellings high up in the rocks as the war rig enters the mountain pass:

You can see at the top of the below image what looks like caves at the peak of the rocky outcrop in the distance.

I apologise about the quality of the pics, i had to literally just photograph my tv screen. Does anyone think that these are indeed caves or some kind of dwelling and are we to assume if so that these are the rovcky riders' dwellings?

Sorry if this has been brought up before it just noticeably caught my eye yesterday when i saw it in the distance. I don't think there are any other shots of them.

Yeah I noticed them too. In fact there's a whole lot more of those caves in the whole canyon.

But what I find the most fascinating and an interesting idea to entertain is that originally the 'Canyon' was an actual city that's been destroyed almost beyond recognition and started to resemble rock formations. I don't know, I just find it extremely cool that the canyon in the movie was a city like ruined Sydney in MMBT without anyone realizing it. In fact when you learn this you might instinctively start looking for any kind of a wall, something even slightly resembling remains of architecture in the canyon. I really doubt you'd find any evidence of that in the movie, but at least the idea itself is cool.
Here's early concept art depicting the ruins of a city:

Yes, it would've been mind blowing to see glimpses of an ancient civilization like in the original 'Planet of the Apes'
but there is more to come...maybe this will be realised in Mad Max: The Wasteland

Fossilised Skyscrapers on paper sounds epic but I'm not sure if it would have worked on the big screen.

There were some early concept art pictures of the Citadel being made out of buildings too.

Maybe not fossilised, but Resident Evil 3 managed it ok with a half-buried Las Vegas ;)
