Dirty Interceptor

Thought i'd show those interested my Interceptor i've been playing around with. I purchased this years ago when you could actually still buy em from a shop. I purchased the dirty version thinking it'd look more movie correct in look than the clean version but was pretty disappointed in the look of it once i got it. The muddy look was simply some reddish brown paint sprayed all over it. Well not all over it but there was lot's on it and it looked pretty average to my own eyes.

So not really satisfied with the look i went and resprayed the whole car gloss black and then started to dirty up the appearance again doing my own thing. It's not finished but that close to it anything more i do won't be much more noticeable. Will repray the Jerry cans and clean off the paint that is completely covering the spare and re dirty to my own level but it's really just some lil bit's here and there to work on a bit more. I am much more happier with how it's looking now to how it was so i'm glad i went and did it.

It actually started to drizzle when i took the pictures out back earlier and you can see a couple of spots got on the car along with me swiping em off in the process. Things are all dry again now so all is good.

So heres what i went and did to it.. :)

Is this 1/18 scale? Looks great, far better than original. I have 1/43 two car set (dirty version) and they are just like you said, reddish brown spots that really don't look very realistic.

Thanks and yeah it's the 1/18 version.

Not sure about your twin set but this was pretty shocking how it looked to me. Half the car or more was red/brown colour and just looked like what it was, paint sprayed on a black car.

Nice weathering , those muddy and upgrade versions are worth big bucks now , I don't think I will bother trying to get a muddy version after seeing your results doing it at home

Thanks. I know if i could go back and choose again i'd go for the clean version myself and would have weathered one of those up. You will be much happier with the final look compared to how the dirt one is outa the box.
I wish you could still get em at a good price as would try and convert one into the original version. Not sure we are ever getting one released that way but would have thought it'd of happened by now if it was. Especially as the MM2 one sold out.

Yeh I thought about getting another clean version and converting it to the MM1 model but 400 plus for the car and 300 for the conversion kit is just off the planet :|

That's very well done. Very accurate. 8-) Good job.
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

It's scary and sad really how much it'd cost. I just don't have the dollars meself but i'd love to have a MM1 version as well. Think i was looking at the same conversion kit perhaps it was the same sorta price from memory. Looked like a great conversion kit, no resin just plastic and metal. Add that price to the price of a car these days though as you said and it becomes too much for a lot of us. I think the only way i'll be able to afford one is if one of the companies could release it. Not really sure why it hasn't happened when the MM2 versions sold out.

Thank you fellas.. It's hard to know when to stop when weathering things up but compared to how things were out the box i'm a lot more happy with it as a display piece now.
