Image@PursuitSpecial theres not a great difference between the 2 apart from the obvious the kz on the side panels .The main reason for this was designation for the American and rest of the world markets (kz is for the states) although all z1000 frame and engine numbers begin with kz as well .The kz also has different electrics that varies from state to state, mine is an import and the headlight is on all the time and has a hazard flash function on the indicators .The carbs are also different too they are jetted slightly smaller to meet the emissions regulations and have an accelerator pump to aid acceleration. There`s probably a few other things but I cant think of them right now , basically you would be hard pushed to tell a z from a kz if you replaced the decal on the side panel especially if the bike was wrapped in a La Parisenne style faring :)

actualy neobrit there is a visual difference the collors are different two for the us and two for aus the kz came with the front disc brake callipers on the back same as the a2 were as the z100 a1 came with callipers on the front and no mag wheels were avail on either bike till the j model or the mark2 as some would knowthe side cover badge is a good start aus a1 has z1000 and us kz1000 which is part of the diecast badge not an sticker as on the goose bike the kz has higher handle bars and a different seat as yanks love there crusers so it was restyled slightly for us model will get back to you on the colers though!!!!
