Wasteland biker

Postby Interdictor » Tue May 27, 2014 11:21 am

Been adding detail to the rider on my (older) bike build.
This is the figure I started with. It is supposed to be a full body race suit, and as such has almost no detail.
(it's all in the decals...that I didn't touch.)

And the before/after final result. Right arm was repositioned to hold the shotgun in an offensive position. swapped heads/helmets, and did what i could to give the rider some texture.

I still need to sand the seam in his hand, but don't have any flesh colored paint currently, so I'm holding off for now.

I added the shoulders and straps, lower jacket and jacket belt & shin guards and straps to the boots. Also added a shottie from the parts stash:

Hand painted the "Dogs of War" gang patch.
The original figure was essentially a featureless tube.
In order to simulate a leather jacket, I added a lower strip to the "bottom" of the jacket, then added a wide belt and belt loops. Made from 20lb printer paper, cut to shape and painted.

All accessories are made from paper except the shin plates on the boots. Those are made from pieces of aluminum foil. And the shotgun is styrene.

I simulated rivets by dimpling the foil with a mechanical pencil, and embossed ridges from behind, also with the pencil. Straps are strips of paper.

The studs on the shoulders are small dabs of CA glue painted chrome.

Most of the wrinkling of the jacket beneath the belt was done by adding multiple thick coats of paint, brushed for texture.

Here he is mounted to the bike. (a full-race Honda NSR500)

The bike still needs some touch up work, mainly to the exhaust system. (tips drilled out, additional/better paint)

The left side eyeball headlight fell off. Just needs re-glued.

say, that's a nice bike. It's the rider that really makes it tho.

Thanks! It's only the 3rd figure I have ever done. I'm pretty happy with how he came out.

I like that, there needs to be more bikes represented.
This guy back in 1993 made a bike out of a Citroen 2CV, it was a good story,
