The Feral Buggy

Postby Interdictor » Wed Jun 06, 2012 7:46 pm

Well, now that I'm back and posting again, I figured I might as well go completely overboard and
inundate you all with some of what I have been doing all these years.
(Namely, building models!)
I have been semi-regular at the Colorado area model shows and have taken some 1st place and special awards in Region-10 IPMS shows with my Mad Max inspired builds. No small feat as they often have no idea what catagory to place me in!
The IPMS National model show is in my backyard for 2013, so expect Mad Max to be WELL represented there!
Although My BoB is the only film specific vehicle I have created (I do have an R model Mack just waiting....)
all of my vehicles live in the Mad Max universe. (Well, the Old-school universe, not what I'm seeing from FR pics like the Gigahorse crap, but I digress.)
So yes, My vehicles have all been "built" by communities or individuals with access to basic shop tools/welders.
Scavenged from abandoned vehicles, cobbled together or modified to be sure!
Many have large V/8s, but eschew huge superchargers, monster truck tires, and the like.
Also very few have any heavy armor or any weaponry at all, or if armed, utilize air cannons like the Cobra F100.

So with that, here is my Feral Buggy.
Using Tamiya's 1966 Beetle pan and chassis, I essentially scratchbuilt / kitbashed the rest.
(A theme you will see a lot of from me!)

I appreciate all comments, and am happy to answer all questions, I could provide details for hours.

Dude I LOVE your work, your models suit the Mad Max universe so well. They are totally believable concepts for an aggressive wasteland. The attention to detail, both in concept and execution is stunning, well done sir!

Those cars are absolutely amazing. Great details and like MWFV8 said, these cars are totally believable concepts of a post apocalyptic world.
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

Thank you very much guys. Yes they are all 1/24 scale.
I have quite a few more, but that was my posting limit for one night!
I'll try to post some more of my builds tonight.

Excellent work. Looks very much like the pan buggys they built for Road Warrior. Exhaust is very good, this is what the Baja Bug needs, or similar.

I actually went through several different exhaust treatments on the Baja.
Ultimately I really ended up liking what I have now. Not ideal from a functionality standpoint,
but if you look at many of the vehicles in MM2 (the Cobra F100 and the red Bat XA as examples) they have
overly showy exhaust systems.
I was intending to bring a bit of that feel to the bug, to really cement it in the Mad Max universe, and not just your average Baja. Also, I wanted to do something I had never seen before, and everything has already been done to a bug. ;)
