New RW V-8 Interceptor kit...?

Postby Havoc » Sun Jun 01, 2003 11:19 pm

Hello All,

Just wanted to let you know that Monsters in Motion is taking pre-orders for a styrene plastic kit of the black-on-black V-8 Interceptor as seen in"The Road Warrior." Aside from being overjoyed at getting a break from the dark side of resin model building (dangerous dust and a lot of extra engineering skills often required), it is also a break on the wallet: it is retailing at $39.99!!

It'll look great next to my resin MM Interceptor kit when I finish it! My guess is that Aoshima is the manufacturer... Don't know much about the kit other than what the sales page says...but it looks good ta me and is affordable!

The kits are due to ship to Monsters in Motion in a week or two.

Here's the link:

By the way, has anyone ever made or contemplated 1/24th scale resin Mad Max/Road Warrior figures to accompany the various kits out there...? I'd do 'em myself if I had the sculpting skill... And boy, not that I am an action figure kind of guy, but were the sculptings of those large and small "Road Warrior" figures DISAPPOINTING (to say the least) or what...? McFarland, where are you when we need you?!!

Aloha, Enjoy, and Keep on Modelling!!

In my opinion PLANET X made the coolest INTERCEPTOR models, all 3 of them.

If you read that, forget it. Talking out my whatzit again.

Try looking here:http://www.modelcars.com.au/results.asp?type=aust&Page=1

Many XB GT, XA, and XC 1:18 scale Falcons. The XC Cobras have the rear spoiler (and the front airdam, if you can find an XA/B/C sedan).

Holden Toranas (if you wished to make the car from RW that no one ever asks about) or Valiant Chargers (for the other car no one asks about).

There are also 1:43 and 1:64 scale cars.

Prices are all over the place, depending on how many pieces of a particular kit were made. 1:18 scale XB were anywhere from $135 to $250 AUS. Same product, different markings and a limited edition.

Word has it that the imported Monsters in Motion black-on-black RW Interceptor has been delayed, possibly until September, due to some licensing issues!

Bummer! I was really hoping to get my mitts on this kit and build it right up. Arg!! Will keep you posted if there are any changes in status...

Aloha,

Johnny B.

Hey Guys,

If you are interested in a 1:18 diecast version then have a look in the gallery at http://www.vanpyremodels.com. These models are all custom built and can be made in either MM1 or MM2 configuration. Prices range from around AUS$350 up depending on the detail wanted. All models do come complete with a working static blu light on the dash. When you take into account the price being charged for the 1:24 resin kits this is not a bad deal!!!
