Online source for custom MFP number badges?

Remember when there used to be engraving shops all over the place? I'm having a heck of a time finding just one in my area. I'd like to get a couple MFP number badges (as correct as possible) but I missed the group buy and Bronze21 hasn't been active in more than a year.

Has anyone ordered one (or more) online, and what's the URL? (I've been looking, but the prices on single badges are crazy. I'm hoping to hit up a uniform shop this weekend.) Thanks.

I'm afraid I don't know a source for you, but I wanted to mention that you should be specific about which one you're looking for in case someone might have an extra.
I'm assuming you're talking about the serial badge from the first movie with the black letters and numbers rather than the different style riveted one that Max wears in MM2.

Yessir, the MM1 MFP badge like AbbyShot sells. I have the AbbyShot version but I'd like to order a couple of different numbers (I'll check the registry) so I can be "MFP Officer Guy" and not "Max Cloneatansky."

After further consideration... I've been looking online, in vain, for plates that are the size of the AbbyShot version (1/2 by 2 inches), but how do we know the AbbyShot version is even correct? (For one thing, the letters and numbers on Goose's plate look to be painted or pressed on, not engraved. For another, shouldn't it be metric? I wouldn't be surprised if the costumer just grabbed some plastic pinback name tag blanks and stuck numbers on.) It's just another best guess--and having read the whole previous number plate thread, I know there's rarely consensus. There's not really a "standard" police name tag size, but the one that looks proportionally correct is .56" by 2.5" (versus .5 by 2.5). See http://www.qmuniforms.com.

So you know what? I'm going to do what looks best to me. The trick, I guess, is to get them to print in big block letters on one line. I'll let you know what I find.

Well, if you strike out with that plan you could always get the Abbyshot one and use some black paint to alter the numbers, turning the 3 into an 8 etc.. Kinda like I used to do with my report card.

I found plaquemaker.com via a Web search and thought they could give me what I needed. They offer aluminum and stainless steel tags and plaques in custom sizes. I did some math and decided on 2.25" by .5". I included a picture of Goose's MFP tag and had to have the proof modified a couple of times before they got the font sizing right. Shipping took too long. They use UPS Mail Innovations which means UPS picks it up and then it goes to USPS for delivery, and that's just stupid. Also, they notified me that the order had shipped but it didn't actually leave the building for several days.

My badges arrived this past Saturday. The font and size are OK, but they were obviously printed on a larger aluminum sheet and then cut out with tin snips. The edges have burrs, which is understandable, but the cuts aren't straight and the badges aren't even square (I guess that's what they mean by "custom cut"). I’m surprised they thought a customer would find that acceptable. I don’t have time before the RW event to go through a lengthy exchange process, so I filed them down myself and replaced the pinbacks with clutchback pins. As you might imagine, I don't recommend this vendor. About the only thing I'm happy with is that the printing is flat (it's dye sublimation, not engraving).

Nice job on your badges! I had mine done at a local nametag place, and I was never really happy with the available font choices. Yours looks spot on.
