anyone seen this movie? it's not that rare was made in 1994 by the dude that made ROMPER STOMPER, it has the best and most chilling car chase i've ever seen between a CHRYSLER CHARGER, and an OLDSMOBILE NASCAR.

as well as seeing it does anyone know what happened to the cars in this movie after filming, in particular the CHARGER? it's an awesome looking car , driven by BEN MENDEHLSON.

That was an awesome flick!! I have often wondered what is the "regular" thing to do with cars/props etc when a film is done.... auction like for MM2? If so is ythere records kept of where the things go? It woould be cool to trace where are they now on several cars from awesome films (Deathrace 2000)....and some stupid ones (eat my dust, corvette summer)

"The 'regular' thing to do with cars props etc .." is to dispose of them at the end of the shoot ... after any pick-ups have been identified ( shots missed/unusable or flagged by the editor and director ... budget permitting).

Often on feature film a new business entity is created ... a new company registered for the purpose of producing the project. The props vehicles belong to that entity. Generally there is little of commercial nature left as production co's prefer to hire furniture and many props including vehicles. The exception to this is where the vehicles are modified ... such as MM & Metal Skin ... where the art dept farms out the construction of the cars to a specialist. These vehicles are later sold to recoup some cash that is funnelled back into the film through post production.

The vehicles are sometimes offered to cast and crew ... I've mentioned that a mate who appeared in Running on Empty was offered the 'rammer' car at the end of the shoot but ... like many film vehicles ... it was modified in such a way as to 'read' on film and not necessarily work or be road registerable. The interceptor is another obvious example.

Where are they now ... well I've been researching a book on 'Cars in Australian film' with a chapter on where are they now ... I've found a few ... but there seems to be a whirling psychodelic vortex that they drop into ... never to be seen again!

STREET MACHINE actually did an article on the DODGE CHALLENGER from RUNNING ON EMPTY, a couple of years ago, was a cool article, said where it is now, and what modifications he had and sh*t.

I know clothing is usually sold off to fans and stuff , back in early 1993, i went to a film exhibition in melbourne which had various props and costumes including all the clothes the skinheads wore in ROMPER STOMPER, and the gowns and sh*t in STRICTLY BALLROOM, was cool.

yes Ben Mendelsohn was in that movie, now here is some degree of seperation for you all, Ben Mendelsohn in the movie "the big steal" wanted to buy a car from a shonky used car dealer, and the car dealer was none other than Steve "the goose" Bisley. Now "the big steal" is a really good film about life in Melbourne in the early 90's.

Here is another little fact of interest for you all, in "the big steal" Steve Bisleys character "Gordon Farkas" got really drunk one night and drove his car and got pulled over buy the cops, and where they pulled him over was a place called "Luna Park" now in "the big steal" there was also an actor named Claudia Karvan which years later (2001) Claudia Karvan is in "the secret life of us" which just happens to be filmed around St Kilda and Luna Park

Just a little fact that may have been of interest to you people if it isn't, you can put all that info in your big black stiff sh*t book LOL

Hey Rockatansky4073 ... do you know which issue of Street Machine features the ROE Dodge? I've got the last ten years or so ... had the lot from Van Wheels onward but the ex tossed them in 91 as revenge for me tossing a Cosmo that she hadn't finished reading ... wonder why we're not still together ...

And another bit of useless trivia for the big black stiff sh*t book ... Geofrey Wright - director of Romper Stomper and Metal Skin is now living in some rural setting ... breeding Chiwowwas (Small dogs who can't spell!)
