how do you know that?

hitler could have been the same thing but a woman, because you are basing what you said on what you already know about hitler and women. do you understand my point now?

the conceit is fucking intellectually bankrupt.

It's like asking "what if Hitler had been born a girl?"

Until recently, the genders were treated so differently that history wouldn't hear of the alt-girl. Hitler as a girl would probably have been treated a bit better by family and married a nice boy from the next valley.

The issue is you have character and you have circumstance. Within fiction, both of these can be contrived to achieve what the creator wants for the story. In the real world, it's a case of almost complete speculation as to what they'd result in. What's probable to one person may be improbable or even implausible to another. Ultimately there never can be a right or wrong as there's little there to objectively consider. Most of us are really just basing things around our view of how the world works and suffering from a terrible case of confirmation bias while we do so.

Oddly enough, we currently live in an age where gender within fiction (certainly motion picture fiction) is being treated more differently than it was thirty years ago.

I feel we're just going through a sort of purge at the moment. Those on the extreme ends of the various debates tend to be dominating the mainstream conversation and even sometimes manipulating the narrative. But now it's coming more and more to light that some of the loudest voices are also some of the most misogynistic, misandric, and hypocritical out there.

i can see why.

person 1. quietly asks stupid question about a gender insignificantly used in a particular 30 year old role.
person 2. tells person 1 it's a dumb question.
person 1. says they are sorry.
person 2. declares discussion is not over.
person 1. brings up point that's still, not good.
person 2. declares discussion is not over.
person 1. gone.

and this is the issue too with this type of back and forth that bothers me. in no way shape or form am i a misogynist, but it's easy to turn my anger around to that tone and it isnt right. i couldnt be more liberal (by american standards) and supportive of womens rights as one could be without jumping into crazy town and being a socially retarded white knight/ third wave feminist.

we were literally months out from the two morons here instigating gender arguments and then this was started.

In the case of the feral kid, he doesn't behave like a regular kid, would probably behave similarly whatever gender since 'feral' kids have been found IRL and those tend to behave like animals, whether they happen to be girls or boys. Would Max have treated the kid differently? Doubt it. He doesn't want the kid tagging along with him and I doubt he'd change his mind if it was a girl. Would the other people in the compound have treated the kid differently? Perhaps. I thought it was sort of weird how the kid was coming and going through tunnels and they didn't try to keep him inside more than they did - I guess he was just allowed to come and go because he couldn't be kept in.

I don't reckon it would have made much of a difference in this movie.

With adults the dynamic is different, but that's what I like about Max in this film - he's an equal opportunity misanthrope.

I am gravely disappointed. You won't use correct pronouns, or watch Ghostbusters... what a puny plan. Look around you. Nothing can escape.

There has been too much shit-posting. Too much privilege. But I have an honourable compromise. Just stop posting. Give me your platforms, the blogs, the status updates, and the whole internet, and I'll spare your dignity. Just walk away and we'll never engage in blatant misandry and cringe-worthy hypocrisy. Just walk away and there will be equality. I await your answer. You have until my next Tumblr post to decide.
