Nope, Plissken is like a caveman in the script. There's no memorable line, or action scene.

You can smell the stench on this project, T5 like, unless they hire an unknown guy who gets a handle on it and blow us all away.

I agree...i think we need a total unknown for the reboot. Kurt owns that character so well that anyone established would probably come off as a cheap imitation,no matter how good they are. There are a lot of subtleties in his expressions, etc that would take the right person to imitate properly.

EFNY is another of my all time favorites. Not sure if anyone could play Snake like Kurt. A few years ago when they talked of a re make and Gerard Butlers name came up, Kurt Russel said if there's one thing about Snake its that he's American. Not to offend any of our overseas friends but I have to agree. It's like an American actor playing James Bond. It just wouldn't work.

The problem is I'm not sure there's any American actors that can pull it off. That Sons of Anarchy dude needs to gain about 25-30lbs first. He just isn't believable as a badass. But then I never cared for SOA.

Mad Max is George Miller.
Snake Plissken is Kurt Russell.

I think an "Escape from NY" remake is useless.
And I think an "Escape from NY" reimagining couldn't work.

Leave Snake alone.

Couldn't we just as easily say Mad Max is Mel Gibson? :)

"Escape From New York" does not need a remake. In fact, Carpenter should team up again with Russell to do another sequel.

They're both too old. Especially Carpenter, his glory 80's days are long gone.

EFLA left the world in darkness. With Kurt playing an older Snake it would be a non-technological world similar to how the portrayed NY & LA. The plot would not be able to follow the formula of the first two films with the forced motivational implants. He would have to evolve into a hero of free will and selflessness. That's not really in his character.

Kurt Russell is not too old. As for Carpenter, I believe he has stated he is old and tired, but I also think he's a bit lazy as well as disillusioned by the industry. But, he also just put out an album, so I think with the right script and creative control he could make another masterpiece. As for what Snake would do next. We can only guess. He's Carpenter and Russell's character.
