Battletruck, released in the U.S. as Warlords of the 21st Century, was not a copy of Mad Max or Mad Max 2. The movie idea was developed in the 1970s. John Ratzenberger, in the early stage of his career, performed well in Battletruck.

There are a few videos on YouTube regarding Battletruck production worth watching.

I have the opening narration for Battletruck on my Web site.

Unfortunately, with the increasing likelihood of a nuclear weapons race in the Middle East, the world described in the Batletruck narration, with oil fields burning in the Middle East as a result of warfare, may be more realistic than we realize.

I still own my Battletruck VHS stored in my "Post-apocalyptic Archive". 8-)

I just happen to love the movie and my fave part is the ending... I LOVE the ending theme.

Uncle Entity,

I agree Kevin Peek's music at the end of Battletruck was great.

Several years ago I was able to acquire the rare French LP of the Battletruck Soundtrack. Someday I hope to have an LP-to-CD transfer made.

Taipan,

Apologies if my last paragraph sounded political. It was not meant to be. Reading news more nations in the Middle East may be pursuing nuclear weapons often makes me think of the Battletruck opening narration.

The radio broadcast at the beginning of Battletruck is also related to Car Wars. The broadcast mentions food riots. In the Car Wars gameworld, food riots caused a large amount of destruction that started the path to armoured- and armed- vehicles on the highways of the U.S.

Uncle Entity,

Did you pick up the Battletruck DVD released a few years ago? It is still available.

You should take photos of your VHS copy of the movie. Nice treasure on your shelf.

Not yet... I'm waiting for the Italian dubbed DVD, I absolutely loved the Italian dubbing they made in the eighties.

Of course, man! :D :D :D
