Have you seen a MAD MAX film in the theater?

Postby henry2 » Tue Aug 05, 2014 3:23 pm

Unfortunately I haven't, FURY ROAD will be my first. It looks like I'll be seeing it multiple times from what I see from the trailer. I was only 2 when the first came out. I became the MAD MAX fan I am now in 1990 when I first saw them on VHS, remember VHS? ;) What about you guys?

RW and Thunderdome first run. MM at a university rerun with RW. Thanks to a $1.00 2nd run theater in my old neighborhood, I saw RW probably 10-15 times in a real theater. Usually it was a double feature with Bladerunner.

Wow, totally jealous.

I was really young when RW came out. I remember going to see ET, which was very big around that same time. I remember the poster with Max and Wez. I begged to see RW. My brother went to see it and I went into ET. He raved about RW. I saw RW a few years later when I was about 10 on VHS. Saw Mad Max probably at 12 on VHS.

Saw BTW as a teenager. It didn't have the same feeling as RW.

I wonder if the release of MM4 will cause theaters to do a limited run on MM1-3?

Probably not, maybe in the arthouses. Or at Alamo Draughthouse. Watch for them to be endlessly run on AMC and FMC in the weeks/months prior to FR.

My initial viewing of RW was interesting. The sound was a little too loud. It actually was uncomfortable, but given the movie, it just made it better. We walked out feeling like we'd actually lived it. It was literally a visual and sonic assault.

I've seen the original in a theater down here in Hobart.

Was about october 2003 and Bertrand cadart (Clunk) attended the screening and did a great speech before it and pointed out all these little mistakes and anecdotes i had never heard before.

Afterwards he hung around for a chat and drinks, but because it was a surprise appearance, i didn't have any time to bring in a video or poster or anything for him to sign -
He just surprised us all and was just THERE!!!

In 1988, or 89, a movie theater near my place organized a mad max night. So I discovered the 3 movies during a night, from midning to 6 o'clock. I was around 14... :)

5 Years ago I saw MM1 in the cinema. It was at a Belgian film festival. I also saw Not Quite Hollywood, The long weekend and Dead end drive-in. There was also an interview with Mark Hartley (maker of NQH), Richard Brennan and Brian Trenchard-Smith. Producers and directors of Aussie flicks. I also had a personal conversation with Them. And they both signed a big NQH poster for several people including me. Mine I put behind glas :D
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.
