New "Mad Max" Collector's Edition

Postby Bad cop » Fri Jul 25, 2014 8:32 pm

Shout! Factory's Scream Factory label recently announced ten new films they will be releasing, one of which is "Mad Max." I CANNOT WAIT!!! Scream Factory has been doing an amazing job with all of their releases in terms of extras and overall presentation. Not to mention that they brought so many forgotten and desired films onto DVD and Blu-ray for the first time. The two other titles announced that I'm really excited for are "Dolls" and "Escape From New York."

And so they show a promo still from Mad Max 2

Is this going to be the same scan.....mastering......whateveryouwanttocallit......as the previous BD releases of MM? The print needs a lot of cleaning up imo.

I don't care.

They must re-do the transfers of MM2 and MM3, because they are 100% plagued with telecine judder/flickering.

I reckon they'll just do like what they did with the 2002 Region 1 special ed dvd - just film some new footage/interviews etc.
cause all they ever seem to come up with on packages like this for movies this old is still gallerys and trailers.
SHOUT are pretty killer, though - they have the goods on their other releases.
Along with GRINDHOUSE RELEASING, DARKSKY and SYNAPSE, they really care about the films they do and don't just try and use it for a money making scheme.

No specs or extras have been revealed yet. They are probably not even in the works yet, as it isn't scheduled for release until 2015. But with Shout! Factory we guaranteed some amazing new extras in addition to the previous ones. Hopefully the set will include the behind-the-scenes footage that was included in the documentary "Not Quite Hollywood," and hopefully interviews and commentaries with George Miller, Steve Bisley, Joanne Samuel, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Tim Burns, Roger Ward, and many others. It would be amazing if they could find the deleted scenes.

What about that documentary that was being done years ago that we thought would make it on the first Blu-Ray releases? Whatever became of that and did it focus on one movie or the trilogy.
