What rendering software do you use?
Does it automatically do the suspension ,body roll and wheel rotation, or are they all set manually?

Hi Daz,
The rendering software I use is a program call 3D Studio Max.I use a "plug-in" renderer called Vray.The cars are rigged using Car Craft Animation...a cool rigging system I bought ages ago.I intend to animate all the cars I have made just for fun and to keep gaining more experience and to showcase the car models.The slowness of rendering is a huge pain in the arse! so I keep the animation to a minimum.
Car Craft Animation handles all the physics of the car suspension ,body roll and wheel rotation etc...I'm still trying to work out how far I can push it.

If you need a rendering farm I might be able to help out, depending on software licenses. I have a bunch of machines mining bitcoins and parsing SETI data that could be used for more important work.

Hi Daz,

Thanks heaps for the offer!!...yes the licenses would be trouble...not to mention all the maps, files and other stuff that would need to go with the programs.I'll keep soldiering on.I'm working my way up to animating the Interceptor from the first movie...really want something fantastic. I keep learning so that's the main thing.Right into war planes at the moment...just animating a North American P-51 Mustang as I type this!!

Just out of curiosity Wayne what was your learning curve on 3D Studio Max like? How much time did you spend learning it before you came proficient with it?

Hi Morris,
I've had 3-D max for years...starting with Max 3 ( The first thing I made was the characters from South Park, just using shapes).Having said that I only used it in my spare time for fun.Everything I know is self taught from a couple of "How to" manuals, to lately just watching tutorials on good old Youtube!! I have certainly come a long way, but have nowhere reached full potential yet...I have grand plans that I just can't carry out yet! Computers are always an issue...the better and faster they get the more I try to do!!...so it's always frustrating! I suggest watching tutorials and getting to understand the program and then just having fun making simple stuff and working up to bigger and better things.
