Mad Max Stained Glass

Hi Everybody,

I grew up loving Mad Max, and I was reluctant to see a remake of my absolute favorite trilogy. But, after seeing the movie, I was blown away and had to represent it in a stained glass piece! I do stained glass on the side, so it was a no-brainer. I used some super-rare glass for the sky to get the clouds right, and I barely had enough to cover it all.

It's actually going to be featured in Chicago in my first gallery showing ever!!

Here it is posted on DeviantArt - http://www.deviantart.com/art/Mad-Max-What-A-Lovely-Day-Stained-Glass-Window-546971462
And here it is on my website, plus info on the gallery opening if you'd like to come. :D - http://www.jessacarlson.com/

Please check it out and let me know what you think.

That looks absolutely fantastic. Very nice job 8-)
An aunt of mine also makes stained glass. She made me the emblem of my hobbycar in stained glass with the outlines of the car.

Very cool. Something different too, we're of course used to seeing so much fan art online nowadays, but I don't think I've ever seen any fan art done in stained glass.

What's the deal with the rare glass for the sky? What does that mean exactly?

Some of the different colors and patterns in the glass are hard to find. There are manufacturers of glass that consistently make the same colors, patterns, and opacities. In the case of the sky glass, it is "Chicago Art Glass" which is no longer made.

Does that answer your question?

I didn't know how stained glass worked, I thought you put the colour into it somehow, which now that I think about it is pretty dumb since it's GLASS :), I guess I just thought some weird chemicals or something I don't know. I get it now, the glass is made coloured.

Now I'm wondering, do people salvage glass from other works? Maybe scour garage sales and flea markets and whatever looking for unique glass to re-use?
