Turning this thread into a Punisher topic

I think both movies had their good and bad parts. I HATED how the '04 version had Frank as some cheesy FBI guy; he was a Marine for crying out loud! Thomas Jane didn't fit the part, either. I didn't like how Frank's ghetto neighboors really had hearts of gold, just not believable. I did like how Frank scoped out his enemies, manipulated them, and made them kill each other; that was very Punisher. The whole Howard Saint money-laundering bad guys thing could have been better too. Should have been in New York, and I didn't like how his entire extended family was killed. Frank shouldn't be a suicidal drunk, either. He's a highly motivated individual with a plan.

The '08 version was better... with one huge exception. Frank would never, ever, ever kill an inocent, even on accident. ESPECIALLY not a cop. He would know everything about an entire building and everyone in it; hacking police files to see about undercover officers and everything. He just would never kill an innocent. That's one of the bedrock rules of the character. Why not have Frank get the drop on the undercover agent, then the agent begs for his life, reveals who/what he is, and Frank lets him go? Meanwhile, some other bad guys overhear the conversation, and they kill the agent. So it's kinda Frank's fault but the guy knew the risks of going undercover. The Punisher becoming that family's protector was kinda cheesy, and some of the gun battle could have been better. Ray Stevenson is perfect as the Punisher, and he played him to a T. They could have made Jigsaw so much better, like at first after getting scarred up he's trying to go on as usual, then he's slowly slipping into depression/madness/obsession as he realizes he can't live like that. That would explain why he does the deal for the biohazard stuff and he wastes all that money hiring the gangs to kill Frank. They made the Joker (The Dark Knight) so complex and believable, why not Jigsaw? Jigsaw's henchmen were just dumb, too. The movie had a lot going for it, but it also was a wasted opportunity.

Here I am wearing just about everything. I have a black trenchcoat, but I think wearing that will just hide everything else. Thoughts?

I tried highlighting the gear with white chalk. I just scraped it on so the gear could be seen better, then sealed it on with clear flat spray paint. It's still not as visible as I'd like, and I might try spray painting the gear with a very dark grey.

Anyway, I have on my 'body armor', dual .45s in shoulder holsters, two more .45s in thigh holsters, and then my main weapon of choice. I think I need a better tank top.

Don't laugh at me trying to look tough!

I was expecting white boots and gloves.
Nah, I was figuring you were going for the movie version, based on the skull. Looks good, from what I can see. Take some pics in outdoor lighting, should show up better, As long as noone calls the cops.

Did you ever find the ammo holder thing you were after? I Have a belt of at least 30 blanks, if you're interested, didn't mention it before because you were looking for that piece, and I'm not really sure where the belt is.... but I know I've got it. Somewhere.

"Lemme see your war face!" Looks good, Dave.

I liked the Dolph Punisher movie, bad (and inaccurate) though it was; it had some appeal. I hated the Jane Punisher and preferred the Stevenson Punisher, but I don't think the comic lends itself to a movie told straight. The Punisher is, by his nature, larger than life. He's a caricature, he's over the top. That's tough to do with a movie, which is probably why they tried to humanize him. Except he's not human.

He's a Marine. ;)

Yo Dave! I haven't found the belt boxes for the Pig, but I did find some for a MG3. The attaching points aren't the same, but you can prob make something that'll work. Go to Sturmgewehr.com and click on the Parts & Accessories list. Scroll down until you see 'WTS- 120rd MG3 plastic boxes". There are pics in the listing. Like I said, not correct but 99.3% of the public won't know the difference. Finding any of this stuff in 7.62 is getting tough.

Thanks guys!

As it turns out, not having the plastic box is no big deal. I found one of the cloth ammo 'boxes' that does the same purpose, just with some cardboard inside to hold its shape. I also have an ammo belt going into it. I had to make a charging handle for the side, and that's about it. One more thing that I would like is the changing/carrying handle for the barrel, but that's no big deal.

I'll take some pics of my pig and post them soon.

Well, Hell, Dave. If I had known you would have settled for the cotton bandoleer, I know where a bunch are. Can't wait to see those pics. 8-)

Here's my M-60, pretty much completed. I still might touch up one or two places.

Also, I decided to go with the Ray Stevenson Punisher skull so I changed my body armor. I wanted to make it look rough, so I sprayed the grey on thick and luckily it ran just right. Is that better, Bart?!? :)

What do you think?

Great effort, Dave. Looks awesome. The pig looks almost right. It needs a bit of wear on the feed cover. The anodizing always wears thin on that area and the bare metal shows through. You should've seen the 60s I saw in Central America back in the early 80's, the covers were literally bright and shiny. And you can get away without the carrying handle, but I'd have to add the lock wire to the gas cylinder. It's not the E3 after all.

Turning into a Punisher thread....

This kinda ties in with the Punisher slant this thread took on. I was over in Tampa the other day and saw that the tenement building from the '04 film, the Old Union Station Hotel, has been razed to the ground. Like the '04 film or hate it, the building was a unique and well known landmark for years. The decision for it's destruction was a mix of decay and bad karma, the hotel was a 'Whites Only' establishment in it's heyday and many thought it brought back memories of the city's more racist past. Politics aside, it's just another piece of distinctive Tampa architecture gone forever. :(
