Which film locales are you going to check out? MM1 or MM2, or both? Just curious. :)

Im assuming youre flying into Sydney ?

Its a hot time of year for long distance road trips. If you are arriving in January - go to Summernats. Its a must. If you can, and everythings online these days, register online and camp onsite. Just get the train from Sydney to Canberra and pick up a tent from KMart.

If you want to visit Max sites, Canberra is a good place to start. You can drive out from ACT to Broken Hill, via Silverton. The Barrier Highway from Bourke to Broken Hill is amazing - dead straight and flat.

Out of Broken Hill, head to Port Agusta and then off to Coober Pedy. Id recommend heading to Alice and Uluru, since youre only 100k away... After that, down to Adelaide and then along the coast, via the Great Ocean Rd to Melbourne.

January is pretty hot in Oz. Today it was 46 degrees celsius here.
