McCarthyism

Here's a few quotes from concept designer Brendan McCarthy discuss'in his take on MM4 (from issue33 of SFX magazine).

``I've always loved Mad Max 2:The Road Warrior. It was the pulp fiction of the 80's in a way. It's become such an icon of a certain period of time. It's one of the greatest action movies ever made. I think they accidently managed to tap into the hero myth - you know, to set up resonances with lots of different cultures - and you can see this by the way Max is regarded slightly differently throughout the world. With the third movie they tried to manufacture this feeling and it just didn't work, so I said to George that we ought to try and recapture that spirit without selling out to Hollywood ideals. The good thing is he can basically do what he likes with it, the franchise has made so much money."

``I get my ideas from everywhere. I got a lot of inspiration recently from the middle ages, for instance. I got interested in heraldry and it led me on from there. You'll see a definite influence in the next Mad Max movie too.''

Cool. So at least the people working on MM4 realize that Thunderdome was tripe.

Gulag for MacCarthy.

I'm sorry for you, Camchain. The Wheel picked "Aunty Entity's choice":

"Aunty... we have this man, you know. He got some problems. What's your choice?"

"I always hated United Kingdom. Even before the war. Cut his head and bring it back to me... possibly well conserved. I will use it as herald mark or something like this. That MacCarthy guy gave me a nice idea, all in all."

"Aunty. You say. I do."

"Well, that's the way world use to spin the most of time."
