Ankle, i'm not sure if it was missing in action 1 or 2 but the opening montage score of RW. was used for a certain scene, i seem to remember something to do with one of braddocks men being set on fire..........after he was dead.

Tycho, i've always been a fan of zimmer, his scores are exceptional, although i'm a massive fan of philip glass, i'm not sure his style would suite fury road.

You are correct. The same opening score for MM2 was used in that burning scene.

Basil Polidouris, Holy Crow, he would be perfect. He did one of my favorites, the score to Conan the Barbarian. His music is emotion packed and really matches each scene well. He gets my vote for MM4.

I'd vote for Mr. May but post-humus composion is less likely that composting.

I actually prefered the music in Thunderdome, no not Tina Turner's rubbish, but the "Thunderdome March" style theme music. I thought it made the Movie more of an adventure, you know, like star wars or indiana jones, where you can be left whistling the theme music weeks after you've seen the music. You know what I mean, it was rousing, with feeling.

THUNDERDOME's music was very cool, i really liked it, perhaps better than PART 2's music.

I really like DANNY ELFMAN. He has no place in a MAD MAX movie, but his music in NIGHTBREED, and TIM BURTONS movies, is way cool.

Thunderdome's music always has been one of my favourites. Although I like RW as well, just a pity Brian May is no longer with us but that doesn't stop his style that he set up in the first two movies being adapted and updated for Fury Road.

As to why many film soundtrack composers sound similiar from one movie to another, many are appointed to write scores for films usually with a deadline of just a couple of weeks (One I heard of but cannot remember now had just 48 hours to write three hours of score!) so some resort to a standard 'out of the box' style laid around a central theme.

Personally I would be happy for Hans Zimmer, Poledouris (great on Hunt for Red October) or maybe even Maurice Jarre again. John WIlliams will be too busy doing Star Wars Ep III as he would be really ideal for the job.

The soundtrack on MM4 should emulate the score crescendo as heard when Max is on the peak observing the cars leave the compound. Max views the last car, piloted by Nathan , and follows it until Wez and crew abound. The simple building notes evoke a slow panic and fear not easily duplicated. I hope 4 has this quality.

Yeah, IMO, MM2 had the best soundtrack ever in a film (with James Horner's Aliens score a close second.) The building tempo of the scene you mentioned Ankle, is one of my favorites, as is the deeply meloncholy piece heard throughout. (like when Gyro brings Max back from the Interceptor wreck) To paraphrase the soundtrack's cover, the music conveys the deep losses that civilization has sustained. Brillant work.
