George Miller responds to the "No more Mad Maxes" comment.

The Mad Max: Fury Road director was up at 2 a.m. in Sydney, Australia after his wife, Margaret Sixel, began getting text messages when she was nominated for the editing on the film. “The crew is responsible for making this movie, and I’m glad they’re being recognized in this way” says Miller, whose film got the second-most nominations with 10, including best picture and best director. “I still haven’t had a chance to even look at the list. It’s great. I would never have thought this would have happened. It’s really nice to be invited to the party. It’s a really good feeling.”

Miller told THR that a recent interview that stated he wouldn’t direct another Mad Max film got a “bit jumbled.” He explained, "I was saying I didn’t want to do Mad Max right away. ... I have a few other stories to tell. I wanted to do something small and fast. It got all very jumbled.” As for now, the 70-year-old director says his immediate plans are to enjoy the morning: “I’m having a cup of tea and we’ll probably stay up for a while."

Case closed. Move along.

Lol people seriously believe the "No Mad Max" articles ? I always thought media had read his words wrong. He always said that he would take a break from Mad Max before making another one because it was exhausting to make.

Miller talking about his possible next film. So, in addition to the small, personal film he spoke of earlier, he's also looking at making an effects-laden film. I'm curious to know if the latter is a movie that was offered up to him or one that he developed himself. Much more of the interview at the link.

Furiosa remains close to Miller’s heart, even if there are no official plans to explore her backstory in the spin-off film fans are eagerly clamoring for. Miller clarifies that he may still yet direct a Mad Max spin-off, contrary to recently debunked rumors that he’d be passing the torch. Ultimately it will be his decision, he says.

Anyway, before he tackles the Wasteland again he’s got the itch to make one of two “smaller, quicker” films. Of the two projects he’s choosing between now, “one of them involves, you know, visual effects and so on,” he teases.

Oh lordy, live-action Akira would not be a small film - it's been in development hell for a long time, and at times appeared to have been completely screwed up (hey, lets take a very Japanese story and set it in America, and cast all Americans!)

It'd be nice to see what he does end up doing though :)

He can bloody well leave Akira alone. Everyone can leave Akira alone.

Miller already passed on Akira. Yes, apparently it *was* offered to him.

Found this interesting bit from Guy Norris.

"George has honed his skills to a very high level. He's a much more rounded, polished filmmaker, and he's still got a couple of fantastic stories to tell in the Mad Max world. During the course of Fury Road he was writing backstories and he has written a terrific Furiosa origin story. It's a fantastic script that deserves to be made. I think everyone has their fingers crossed".

After two years of black actors being shut out of the acting nominations and calls by prominent actors and directors to boycott the Oscars, "diversity" was the hot topic.

"In terms of the next movies I hope to make, it's there in the back of your mind," Miller, nominated for best director and picture for Mad Max: Fury Road, told reporters.

"I think casting is story driven, but I think what's really good about what's happened is, if there's a positive to come out of it, it's alerted everybody to the problem."

People (typical SJW garbage) are blowing it way out of proportion. Today George Miller would be crucified if he ended his statement at "casting is story driven." Every sane person has been saying that and called a racist for it. I'm fully expecting even more bullying and whining from know-nothing SJWs resulting in more Hollywood pandering. Ultimately movies will suffer. Acting and story won't matter anymore. Just hold up anything that has non-white actors and ignore the rest or risk bad press. That's the fear these scumbags create. God, this shit is happening everywhere.
