Mad Max was first released on April 12, 1979,
at the East End One Cinema in Melbourne.
This is the main newspaper display ad used at the time.
Following the almost immediate success of Mad Max, Roadshow Australia placed the following tribute ad to Byron Kennedy and George Miller for their achievement.
