Overview
The Mad Max FAQ is a fan page, created and maintained by me, Peter Barton. It is a non-profit page, I run the site entirely out of my own pocket, and everything you see here is my own work. Obviously much of the information is contributions from other fans, there's obviously no way I came up with everything here all by myself, I simply try to collect everything I can, and put it together in a meaningful way.
So what does this mean?
Basically, the site is run in my spare time, and on a fairly tight budget. This means the ISP the site is hosted with is cheap. This means some areas of the site have problems (mainly the message board). It's not that I don't know (or don't care) about some of these problems, but better performance means more resources, which means more $$$, and therefore isn't likely to happen in the near future. Hopefully either my current ISP will fix itself, or the better ones will get cheaper, and the site will continue to improve.
Keeping The Site Up to Date
The amount of time I have available to dedicate to the site depends largely on other influences, such as family, work and other commitments. Some months I stay pretty much on top of things, and answer email promptly and keep the page updated. Other months I don't have enough time, and some things just have to be pushed aside until I find time to catch up. I can only apologise that sometimes things don't make it online in a timely manner, and that some of the older sections of the site are in desperate need of some spring cleaning. I'm enlisting the assistance of a couple of helpers, and I hope to get more on top of things in the near future.

Questions and Emails
I get a lot of emails. As of about June 2001 I've managed to reorganise myself so that just about everything gets answered these days. If you have emailed me in the past and not gotten a reply, please give me another chance. The last couple of years were quite hectic (having kids, etc), and I've really only just managed to organise a system that lets me get on top of my email more easily.
Also, if you just want to know something general, I really encourage you to use the discussion forum. A lot of the fans in there can answer many of the questions just as easily as I can. And obviously I'm NOT the expect in some areas that people thing I am! Quite often I'm emailed questions about cars, computer games and so on, which I don't have enough knowledge about myself to answer.

Some Statistics
For those who are interested, here are some brief statistics for the site, as of June 2001.
Sessions per day: 1750
Page views per day: 6300
Data transfer per month: 60GB (you people are pigs!)
The stats are pretty rough, it's really hard to get any kind of useful breakdown, such as the unique number of people dropping by, etc. Note that the sessions counter above is about triple the counter in the contents pane - not everyone drops by through the main page, or views the contents. But at least you can get a rough idea of how many people pass through here each day.
